Fragrances have been used since ancient times to produce a pleasant scent. Many different perfumes have been produced using smoking wood, pressing oils & extracting, plus drying herbs and spices.
It is believed that the Persians invented the distillation process that resulted in using alcohol as a perfume base. They were prominent in the fragrance making.
Making a fragrance has a lot of steps, it involved ingredients, extracting oils, blending, aging and quality control. It takes time to produce the right scents.
Many fragrances are made by extracting scented oil from natural ingredients. These ingredients can include various plants, fruits, wood.
For scents that don’t occur in nature or do not produce essential oils, synthetic chemicals are used to emulate the scent. Many popular and hard to find scents fall into this category, so it’s likely that this will be present in your favourite perfume or aftershave.

Extraction Techniques:
Maceration/Solvent extraction:
The most used and economically important technique for extracting aromatics in the modern perfume industry. Raw materials are submerged in a solvent that can dissolve the desired aromatic compounds. Maceration lasts anywhere from hours to months.
Distillation:
The raw material is heated and the fragrant compounds are re-collected through condensation of the distilled vapor.
Expression:
Raw material is squeezed or compressed and the essential oils are collected
Once you then have the Essential Oils or Fragrance oils, you can then create your own scent or use them as they are with your products.
Notes: These are descriptions of scents that you can sense when you apply a fragrance. which denote groups of scents which can be sensed with respect to the time after the application of a perfume. These notes are created carefully with knowledge of the evaporation process and intended use of the perfume. The presence of one note may alter the perception of another—for instance, the presence of certain base or heart notes will alter the scent perceived when the top notes are strongest, and likewise the scent of base notes in the dry-down will often be altered depending on the smells of the heart notes.
Notes can be separated out into three areas when you make a scent :
Top/Head Notes – consist of small, light molecules that evaporate quickly. E.g. Citrus
Middle / Heart Notes – This comes to the forefront just before the top notes dissipate. This is the main scent. E.g. Lavender
Base Notes – These are the heavier notes that can be present up to 24hrs afterwards. E.g. Tobacco
Fragrances can be categorised into the following: Floral, Woody, Aromatic Fougère, Fresh & Oriental. By using the 3 notes, you can then design your own scent. At Bijou Von we use Essential Oils / Fragrance Oils that we have sourced from France or the UK.
Hand Sanitiser base Ingredients
Ethanol and Isopropyl alcohol both kill germs but there are some major differences making Ethanol our choice of active ingredient:
Ethanol, also known as ethyl alcohol, is derived primarily from corn or grain, a natural renewable resource, and the same alcohol as in vodka or other spirits, though denatured to render it undrinkable.
Isopropyl alcohol on the other hand is derived from propene which is primarily manufactured from non-renewable fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum or natural gas.
Ethanol is an organic molecule and Isopropyl is only part organic
Ethanol is stable, isopropyl is not stable
Isopropyl alcohol has a very pronounced chemical smell which is why Ethanol is used by the perfume industry (smell rubbing alcohol and then smell some vodka) Isopropyl is a hydrocarbon.

Food Grade Quality
Bijou Von uses only the highest quality food grade vegetable glycerine, which has antimicrobial and antiviral properties (and is also widely used and fully approved for wound and burn treatments).
Vegetable glycerine, also known as glycerol, is a clear liquid. It is odourless and is a popular skincare treatment because of its natural moisturising power. Research shows that applying Glycerine to your skin may gradually improve its smoothness and suppleness.
Widely used in both food and top end cosmetics and skin care products.
Sustainably and ecologically produced from plants
The water we use is first deionized, then demineralised and finally steam distilled, resulting in 100% pure distilled water with 0% residual minerals. Water cannot get any more pure than this!
Why add water? Studies have shown that diluting alcohol to 75%-80% is more effective against bacteria and viruses than pure 100% alcohol.
We understand customers want variety and everyone has a particular preference when it comes to a fragrance. So here at Bijou Von, we have catered for a range to suit everyone.
All these oils are Vegan Friendly, non-GMO and not tested on animals. The naturally occurring components in the majority of our oils have Citronellol, Citral, Geraniol, Linalool in them.

Our luxury range are beautifully gift boxed in black boxes with silver style metal lids. We use a Rapeseed and Coconut Wax Blend, plus fragrances of 10% to 25% in our candles, depending on the range we will be launching. Instructions For Use
CANDLES
At Bijou Von we have a wide variety of candles available in different scents. All our candles are vegan friendly and never tested on animals.
We use a range of different waxes, which we source from suppliers who provide renewable sources.
Please refer to the ‘Ingredients’ page on this site and in the packaging for any allergens.
In addition to this, each candle is double checked before being sent out that it has all relevant legal CLP information, ingredients and allergens listed.
Follow warnings below.
Once a candle is reaching the end of use, place the container in warm water and safely remove the inner candle when it reaches 1cm. Wash and clean the inner part of the candle.
This container can be used again.
For Crystal Candles: – keep crystals away from the flame, as soon as the top layer of the candle has melted on the first lighting, safely remove the crystals with a spoon, do not touch due to the heat with any hands. Let cool and wash the crystals and keep for your own personal use. DO NOT LEAVE CRYSTALS BURNING IN THE CANDLE, this can cause heated stones and impact of cracking glass. WVA Ltd will not accept responsibility for any damages or impacts for incorrect usage of the crystals in the candles.
WARNINGS: To prevent fire & serious injury, burn candles within sight, keep away from children & pets. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Instructions: Trim wick to 5mm before lighting. Keep candles free of any foreign materials, including matches & wick trimmings. Only burn candles on a level surface. Candles must be on a fire resistant surface. Do not burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time. Keep clear of any reflective materials and direct sunlight. Dispose of contents/container to approved disposal site, in accordance with local regulations.

Unscrew the top square wooden black top and put to the side
Carefully remove the plastic plug and save for future.
Screw back the top onto the glass bottle
Over a sink, turn the diffuser upside down whilst the bubbles disperse, for 2-4 seconds.
Turn upright
Place in a safe space in your car, vehicle, so as not to obstruct views.
Occasionally tip it upside down for a second when over a sink, careful not to spill. This will release the liquid into the wooden and black top.
Wash hands after use.
These are refillable and can be used again.

Adhere to Warnings and Hazard Statements
Directions, Remove the out cap by pulling off, ensure the nozzle of the spray is directed away from your face and body. Press the pump and spray 2-4 times in the corner areas of a room. Repeat as necessary.

MATCHES
A little bottle of matches, perfect little addition to the candles.
Remove a match from the bottle and replace the cork lid securely.
Grasp the match firmly at its end point away from the bulb.
Use your your pointer (index) finger and your thumb to hold the match arms length away from your body and away from any other items.
Press the match head into the striker. Look for a rough brownish strip on the bottom of the bottle or side of the box.
Quickly drag the match head along the striker. Without letting up the pressure, quickly slide the match head from left to right. If needed, try again. Matches don’t always light on the first try. Don’t worry if you don’t get a flame immediately
When the match is lit, safely light your candle. Extinguish the flame on the match immediately after the candle has been lit. Place the match under cold water. Do not dispose of until cooled.
WARNINGS: – Matches are highly flammable. Keep out of the use of children. Never leave a lit item alone.
HAND SANITISERS
Washing hands for 20 seconds is still the best way to start by cleaning your hands. If you are on the go or want an extra level of protection, then Bijou Von hand sanitisers can be part of your daily routine in handy refillable atomisers and bottles.

Over a sink, turn the diffuser upside down whilst the bubbles disperse, for 2-4 seconds.
Turn upright
Place in a safe space in your car, vehicle, so as not to obstruct views.
Occasionally tip it upside down for a second when over a sink, careful not to spill. This will release the liquid into the wooden and black top.
Wash hands after use.

Unscrew the silver top and put to the side
Carefully remove the plastic plug and save for the future.
Screw back the silver top onto the diffuser bottle.
Add in the Reeds into the top of the bottle
If any has spilled whilst setting up, wipe with a damp cloth and dry fully.
Do not place directly on furniture, place on a level coaster or base.

Directions, Remove the out cap by pulling off, ensure the nozzle of the spray is directed away from your face and body. Press the pump and spray 2-4 times in the corner areas of a room. Repeat as necessary.

MATCHES
Instructions for use
Remove a match from the bottle and replace the cork lid securely.
Grasp the match firmly at its end point away from the bulb.
Use your your pointer (index) finger and your thumb to hold the match arms length away from your body and away from any other items.
Press the match head into the striker. Look for a rough brownish strip on the bottom of the bottle or side of the box.
Quickly drag the match head along the striker. Without letting up the pressure, quickly slide the match head from left to right. If needed, try again. Matches don’t always light on the first try. Don’t worry if you don’t get a flame immediately
When the match is lit, safely light your candle. Extinguish the flame on the match immediately after the candle has been lit. Place the match under cold water. Do not dispose of until cooled.
WARNINGS: – Matches are highly flammable. Keep out of the use of children. Never leave a lit item alone.
